Kelley Blue Book Loves the 2018 Ford Focus Drive

In a recent professional review, the Internet wing of the auto research and evaluation expert,, lauded the Ford sedan and hatchback duo for the athletic driving dynamics that make it a favorite in the compact class. To quote the authority, "few cars [therein] are as fun to drive."

We at Red McCombs Ford can certainly see what they mean. The new Ford Focus handles in a mannerly, refined way, yet doesn't lack in steering quickness or response thanks to a 160-horsepower, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, standard in models like Focus S and SEL, which KBB called "strong." Of course, there's was much more to appreciate, with those like Focus SEL and Titanium stepping up the game on a blend of luxury and performance with elements like a sport suspension atop sizable tires. The crowning achievements? For one, a 252-horsepower variant, Focus ST, which the commentator called an "impressive piece of work ... fast, fun and comfortable." Secondly, the 350-horsepower, all-wheel-drive-equipped Focus RS, a "new benchmark," they said, for small cars with designs on high performance.

These weren't even all that for which Kelley Blue Book had praise. Other accolades for the new Focus included those for its spacious interior, attractive, sporty, well-proportioned styling -- "hot" for ST and "red-hot" for RS -- and fuel efficiency, with superior mileage afforded by a turbocharged 1.0-liter, three-cylinder in Focus SE. The latter makes possible up to an estimated 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway with a manual transmission. Finally, the pros appreciated the car's affordability. A base 2018 Focus S weighs in around $19,000 MSRP, with hatchback variants but $2,500 more or so. The agile Ford Focus ST hatchback? About $26,000. Going all-electric with a new Focus EV can be done for around $30,000, a competitive figure in the distance-traveling segment, and better yet, the car's available in all 50 states, unlike many other electric vehicles. Bring RS into the mix at around $42,000, and we're sure you'll find it just as cost-effective an investment in sports car thrills as we did.

But the word of an automotive enthusiast is one thing. The firsthand experience is quite another. Eager to see what all the talk's about? You can, behind the wheel of a brand-new 2018 Ford Focus right here at Red McCombs Ford. We're just around the corner here at 8333 Interstate 10 in San Antonio, TX!
